I figured I'd answer this one because everyone seems to not know what my name is. They all think it's like "Technician" and I've had one woman call it "Ten Chicken." But no, one and for all, my screen name is So, I added the suffix "-Chan" to the end, because it's oh so Japanesey and thus have gone by Tenchichan ever since. The nickname of Tenchi goes back to junior high when my friends and I decided to give each other anime nicknames because we were the only people we knew who were into anime. I had never seen Tenchi Muyo at the time, I just liked the name and stuck with it. Thankfully, after seeing Tenchi Muyo I did like it so the name kinda never went away. At this point I think I've just come too far to part with it. I'm really not much of a big anime fan anymore and plus its the name of a popular anime character so I might as well just be going around calling myself Naruto or something. But, it's stuck and I'm probably not changing it anytime soon. I'll be using it as an online handle until I'm famous enough to just be a pimp and use my real name.

3:51 pm - Hell Week
|
Yesterday was an absolute travesty of time management. I sat in my cubicle all day at work, the phones not ringing, nothing really happening. My last hour or so of work was spent just looking at bullshit site after bullshit site. In the meanwhile I have a deadline on Friday to finish my articles and I got all of my information to start work at my new job. So, it's been a bit like torture to spend nine hours here not doing anything and then rush home and have six hours or so to do everything else in. I decided enough was enough today. I could already feel the weight of my deadline weighing me down and I couldn't stand coming to this office for another wasted day. I decided today was going to be productive no matter what. So I got a coffee and went at it. While on the clock I've completed two articles, did a bunch of correspondence with one of my artists and I am now updating this thing so you lovely people know what's going on. I'm hoping to squeeze in another article before quitting time. I want to do all of my work, well, AT work so then when I get home, I can unwind a bit. The weekend was spent having friend and boyfriend time. A bunch of us went up to the Royal Oak Music Theater to see "Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job Live!" It was, well, awesome. I had a great time despite a high douche bag audience ratio.

Today is a good day. I mean, obviousness aside, it's looking like the start of something new and great. Not only for the country, but for myself as well. Everything seems to be changing for the better and all at the same time, which is just peachy. First of all, I mean the obvious one, is that we are not only devoid of Bush forever, but we also have a really awesome guy for president for the next four years. I'm multi-tasking right now and watching the inauguration live on CNN in another window. I have dual-screens at work, so I've got it open in the other screen. However the sound is coming out of the speakers in this screen, so it's throwing me off. I'm kind of triple-tasking actually, because I'm also at least pretending to be working too. So yeah, about that. I put in my two weeks notice yesterday. I was offered a full-time writing position with a company out in California. I'll be working at home for 40-hours a week doing what I love instead of being cooped up in this office all day. I'm extremely excited about this prospect! I feel really lucky! Two years out of school and I can already say "I'm a writer" when people ask what I do. And this time, it's for REAL and not something like Big Time where I was doing some writing tasks, but not really being a writer. This is the real deal. I'll be writing all day, doing articles for this company, looking for more freelance work and working on my own stuff. So to score this awesome job while in the middle of such an economic crisis is pretty awesome. To be starting along with this new president during this big time of change is even more awesome. It really makes you believe Obama's campaign slogan. Yes We Can.
